On July 7th, Dead by Daylight shared their upcoming collaboration and it’s one that may be long overdue. In the crossover universe where horror icons such as Michael Meyers meets gaming favorites such as Leon Kennedy and Freddy Fazbear, it felt like it was only a matter of time before this AMC show joined the fray. That’s right, The Walking Dead is finally coming to the fog.
Dead by Daylight dropped quite a few fun hints at who would be joining the game as survivors. For those who receive emails from Dead By Daylight, they may have noticed the below email in their inbox. The letter from M to R can only be viewed as from Michonne to Rick.

Once clicking on the email, they were sent to additional lore, a letter to M. This all but confirmed the arrival of Rick and Michonne to Dead by Daylight as of yesterday. Fans of the series would not need to wait to see confirmation and their arrival dates. Rick and Michonne can be found in the fog beginning July 29th.
Rick and his Perks
According to the Dead by Daylight website, “There's a reason he's [Rick] among Dead by Daylight's most beloved - and most requested - characters in all of horror.” He may be a man who needs no introduction, but if you’ve never watched or read The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes is a man of honor, willing to do whatever it takes to survive.
He will bring three new perks into Dead By Daylight:
- Apocalyptic Ingenuity – Ever wanted to reuse those pallets? With this ability you can. After looking through chests to gain a unique ability to construct a fragile pallet from the remnants of a broken one.
- Come and Get Me! – Rick has been known to put himself in harms way for others. This perk highlights this as after unhooking a survivor, this ability can be triggered to make injured or dying teammates go silent. Rick will also let out a scream to divert the killer away from his teammate to himself.
- Teamwork: Toughen Up – This perk is best used with a teammate. When another survivor who is close stuns or blinds the killer when you’re injured, your noise, scratch marks, and pools of blood (all ways for a killer to find you) will be reduced.

Michonne and her perks
This isn’t Michonne’s first foray into games, as she even had her own Telltale game that filled in the gap between her time away from the comic series. After joining the series in Season 2, her evolution was quite exciting to see. This will also play out in Dead By Daylight by way of some her perks.
Michonne’s perks are:
- Conviction – Michonne is a survivor, even sometimes at a cost. Michonne can heal a survivor, allowing a player to instantly recover from the downed state as long as you’ve built up a decent amount of recovry time. Of course, this comes with a trade off. Michonne will become broken and go back into dying after some time. This is probably just enough time to get away from the killer and find someone to help bandage you up.
- Last Stand – After spending time in the killers terror radius, the next fast vault will stun the killer. However, this is a one time use perk. Use it wisely.
- Teamwork: Throw Down – Sharing a name with Rick’s perk (spoiler alert, these two get romantic in the TV series), when a killer is pallet stunned or blinded, survivors in the area gain endurance and can glimpse the killers aura briefly. Just enough to ensure their next steps are wisely taken.
What about Daryl?

Yes, we all know that Daryl very quickly became a breakout character in The Walking Dead. He too will have his time in the sun, should players opt to purchase the legendary skin. While Daryl will not be a survivor in his own right, he does function as a separate survivor with the skin equipped. However he does not have his own perks within the game.
When crossover will also bring in set pieces from The Walking Dead onto the pre-existing Garden of Joy map. These set pieces will only appear with Rick or Michonne selected as a survivor.
In the series, Abraham once wrote, “The new world’s gonna need Rick Grimes”. Does the fog also need Rick and Michonne? Will you be jumping in the Dead by Daylight Walking Dead Collab when it arrives on July 29th? Sound off below!
