We finally got more information on my favorite mode in CFB 25 and that’s dynasty mode! EA Sports has made some much needed and highly asked for improvements in this year’s version of College Football. EA Sports also stated they want to make sure College Football 26 give players the most authentic experience, so they have listened to a lot of players feedback and applied it to this year’s version. From real coaches, new plays, better custom coaches, recruiting updates and so much more.
Coaching Matters Most
We talked about for the first time ever we are getting over 300 real world coaches, with real world tendencies in College Football 26 and you can read about that here. In today’s deep dive EA gave us information about the changes made to coaching overall. Every decision, every upgrade and every hire will matter when it comes to your success as a coach. That means those decision points will really matter when it comes to building your coach.

One of the very first things you do when starting a dynasty is you can choose to take over the current coach of the program or create a new coach. I create a coach every single time. This year’s game is a little different because of the authentic coaches, playbooks, schemes, play calling tendencies, abilities and more.
College Football 26 will feature new ways of customizing your coach if you choose to create one. New gear options will let you show off and deck your coach out in everything from a hoodie and joggers to a quarter zip and jeans. If you really are about that coaching life, you can dawn the sidelines in a sleeveless shirt and shorts.

Another new feature in College Football 26, we will be able to customize our coach’s demeanor and stance. You can one of those cool, calm and collected coaches or wear your emotions on your sleeve or lack thereof. Which ever one you decide, will influence your coach’s stance and how he acts throughout the game. This gives your coach even more personality on the field.
Progression and Archetypes
In College Football 26, coach progression and archetype systems have been overhauled to emphasize long‑term strategy and meaningful decision‑making. This year there is a heavy emphasis on the decision points and where you put your focus into. Coach level cap is raised from 50 to 100, with XP rewards rebalanced for frequency and difficulty, offering early momentum but requiring sustained success for later growth.

Archetype perks now heavily influence XP gains and are tier‑scaled. Base archetypes like Recruiter, Motivator and Tactician will differ from the higher tiers like Elite, Hybrid, Program Builder/CEO. The higher tiers will deliver increasingly more significant gains like CEO’s “Big Game Bonus†and Talent Developer’s “Draft Dividends†are prime examples. It will also be required to unlock certain archetypes by meeting the level thresholds. EA also rebalanced abilities added new skills and adjusted the cost of said skills. Everything from your staff hire, archetype and perk will now play a critical role in shaping your coach’s development.

We will also experience updates to the coaching carousel, where you will be notified if one of your staff takes another offer. Head coaches at top programs will now receive better and more consistent job offers. We also see the return of a beloved feature in the “Trophy Roomâ€. Any award, national championship, conference championship, rivalry game, all those trophies will officially be in your “Trophy Roomâ€.
Build Your Program
You can’t have a successful program without recruits, whether they come from high school or the portal. College Football 26 is pushing to capture the essence and chaos of roster movement in this era. With that we can expect to see a consistent pool of around 2,000 players entering the portal. We have the choice to focus on building our program through the portal, developing high school prospects or a mix of both. The success of your program depends on how well you can manage an everchanging roster.

A new feature that will most certainly add to that chaos is “Dealbreakersâ€. If a player’s key expectations aren’t met, this can prompt a player to transfer. Dynamic Dealbreakers are also new, where if a high-tier player players demand isn’t met, it will prompt him to transfer. Playing time deal breakers have also been rebalanced and actual snaps count towards this. Coaches will have tools and perks like Lower the Bar, Family Atmosphere and Roster Retainer. For those players who want to just focus more on other aspects or lessen the impact, you will be able to tweak portal activity and the experience in your dynasty.

College Football 26 will have other updates to features like location recruiting, where if you are a smaller school in Alabama, like UAB, it will cost more points to recruit a kid from California. But if you’re a bigger school like the University of Alabama, it won’t cost as much. Other features like recruiting battles, playing style more have also received updates and have been rebalanced.

EA Sports College Football 26 is setting itself up to be the best football game ever. Yes, I said ever, including better than Madden.
