The first signs of crazy season for gaming are starting to show. Truthfully all of 2025 has kind of felt like that, but today the first big game of the back half of the year, Mafia: The Old Country, has gone gold.

Developer Hangar 13 has been showing the game off quite a but since it was announced and for good reason as it has looked incredible. Its trailer back in May really set the ton and things have only looked better since.
With its release date 49 days away from the time of this writing, it's safe to say they have a ton of confidence if the game is going gold already.
For those unfamiliar with what going gold means, it simply means the game is ready for print. That means a lot less than it did 15-20 years ago as we are now in a digital age with day 1 patches, but it's still generally considered a milestone moment.

Mafia: The Old Country will be taking us back to the origins of the mafia life, back to Sicily. It is a prequel to the original Mafia game that released back in 2002. That game was remade for modern consoles in 2020. The Old Country will be coming to Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5 and Steam on August 8th.
Family Takes Sacrifice
Players will take control of Enzo Favara, a mobster who will do whatever it takes to prove his worth to his family and create a better life for himself.
Set in the 1900s Hangar 13 is putting a heavy emphasis on the story. You will work your way through the ranks of the mob while dealing with many deadly monsters, both friend and foe.
With it being the 1900s we can likely expect to see a lot more gameplay revolving around hand to hand combat with revolvers and a shotgun.
