It's Friday the 13th and while there may be a franchise that shares this date, Deck of Haunts is looking to enhance your day with an update to their game. While we enjoyed the game upon its initial release, this update brings more terrifying fun. Ever wanted to hunt with the Grim Reaper? Now is your chance if you prove yourself worthy. Mantis Games announced their first major update to Deck of Haunts.
Included in this new update is Nightmare mode. Survive 13 sequential nightmares with new humans looking to investigate this haunted house. In this new Nightmare mode, every dead or insane human earns souls. Once you have 13 of them you can summon the Grim Reaper to harvest a human right away. Of course, its not all just about surviving the nightmares in this mode. If you manage to survive all 13 Nightmares you'll also unlock the Crypt Room to use in other game modes. In order to access Nightmare mode, you'll have to successfully complete the base game of one month of haunting.

It isn't all about the Reaper though, this Deck of Haunts update includes a new starter deck, the Trap Deck. If you've always wanted to build your deck around these traps then this is the one for you. Go in with synergy already pre-built for you and get those pesky explorers who get a bit too curious. The trap deck joins drain deck, damage deck, and a chaos deck in addition to the standard deck you may remember if you played shortly after its release. With the trap deck, we're also introduced to five new trap cards including Leaking Rust and Improvised Snare.

Since it's May release, Deck of Haunts has also included an Endless mode to see just how far you can go. If one month wasn't enough for you, this mode will keep you haunting for quite a bit, if you can succeed. With new cards and new modes, the level cap has been increased to 12. For those who already have the XP for level 12, you’ll notice these cards already available to you.
Mantis continues to update Deck of Haunts on a fairly regular basis so it's exciting to see all of the new updates and traits given to humans. If you haven't already given it a try, Deck of Haunts is running a discount promotion on Steam June 13th – June 16th to celebrate this holiday.
Oh and did we mention that they've added the name Jason to name pool? A nice little touch Mantis. That is of course if you haven't already added the name to the custom names area yourself! Let us know if you pick up Deck of Haunts or are enjoying all of the new updates in the comments below.
