It’s not been a great launch for MindsEye. Developed by Build a Rocket Boy and published by IO Interactive – MindsEye is a third person action adventure game that launched on the 10th of June 2025. The developers over at Build a Rocket Boy include some of the minds behind GTA, and a lot of people were excited for the game touted as a proof of concept of the Everywhere engine. But as we got closer to release a lot of cracks started appearing.

Two executives at the company left just before launch, and then came the reports of outlets not getting a review copy prior to release. I can confirm that Gamer Social Club didn’t receive a copy of MindsEye (although we will be releasing a review in time).
Currently the game is sitting at a Mixed rating on Steam, and hasn’t scored higher than a 5/10 on either MetaCritic or OpenCritic based on the small amount of reviews. And looking over them, they are mostly focused on one thing. The fact the game appears to be pretty broken.
The first 3 hours of #Mindseye was a rollercoaster

This was/is tomorrow's intro for our early review, but I've not seen anyone posting glitches like this yet.

Unfortunately, a lot of games release requiring quite a bit of patching, but very few in recent years have been so bad that they have made Sony overturn their rather strict refund policy. Unlike Steam and Xbox, PlayStation Policy dictates that they will not refund a game if you have downloaded or streamed it – meaning there’s no trying it out, seeing it’s full of bugs and getting your money back. The last time they allowed for exceptions to this policy was the launch of CyberPunk 2077.
Well the last time before now, as people online are claiming Sony is refunding played copies of MindsEye due to how egregious the bugs and glitches are.

Build a Rocket Boy released a statement apologising for the launch state of the game,
“We are heartbroken that not every player was able to experience the game as we intended, Our priority is optimizing performance and stability so that every player, across every device, can enjoy an equally high-quality experience.
Our teams have worked tirelessly throughout the night to solve many of these issues, and we have now identified that the vast majority of crashes were caused by a memory leak. This impacted roughly 1 in 10 of our players."
The have also assured players that bug fixes will start rolling out from tomorrow (June 13th).
