Mario Kart World Day One Update Details

Well, we are almost there. At the time of writing, it’s the day of June 4th. We are mere hours from some places doing a midnight launch of the highly anticipated Switch 2. Even though it’s not available yet, Nintendo has released a Mario Kart World patch for it’s bundled in launch title. The notes for the 1.1.0 patch were reported by Steath40k over on Twitter/X.

The notes are as follows:

Patch Notes 1.1.0

  • Added support for Camera Play.
*A USB camera (sold separately) is required for "Camera Play"
*You can choose to turn the camera on or off for "Everyone" and "Internet” play.
*When the camera is turned on, the player's face will be displayed during the race.
  • You can now play on the Internet.
  • LAN Play is now available.
    * On the title screen, press the L stick while pressing the L and R buttons to switch from "Local Communication" to "LAN Play."
  • You can now upload/download ghosts in Time Attack.
  • In Free Roam the icons of nearby players are now displayed.
  • The number of characters that can be selected from the start has been increased.
  • Improved operability when playing with three or more people in “Everyone.”
  • The time limit for deciding on a course has been removed when playing Locally or LAN.
  • The update data version is now displayed on the title screen.

The camera features were already highlighted when the game was announced during the Switch 2 reveal so it’s interesting that they needed to be patched in the day prior to release. Although there’s already been a lot of news surrounding the Switch 2 and it’s offline operability offline on the run up to the launch on June 5th.
