Xbox Game Pass just got yet another RPG added in the forms of the Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 Enhanced Editions bundle. What makes this addition interesting is that it seemingly just showed up out of no where as a shadow drop, not that we will complain.
It’s quite possible that Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 wern’t intended to be shadow dropped into the service. Typically, Xbox announces the next round of Game Pass games on certain Tuesdays of the month and this past Tuesday should have been one.
For whatever reason Xbox has not followed that usual pattern of announcements the last couple of times however. It’s quite possible we see an announcement tomorrow. We already know what is leaving game pass later this month.
While Baldur’s Gate III really brought the series to the forefront for the masses Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 are classics in their own right. Both were developed by BioWare well before Larian took a crack at the IP. The original game released back in 1998 with the second launching in 2000. The enhanced editions are developed by Beamdog.
Interestingly they only appear to be on the Xbox console version of Game Pass and not on PC, though you can still play on cloud through the service via the cloud, if you have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
The Enhanced Editions feature the base games as well as the Siege Of Dragonspear expansion for the first game and much more. All in you will be getting a lot of play time out of this little package, which will easily take you over a hundred hours to complete if you so choose, and much more if you want to tackle everything.
