There is no slowing the Final Fantasy IX airship delivering fresh updates leading up to the 25th anniversary of this beloved JRPG! Alongside setting up a dedicated website for this milestone and announcing several rounds of merch, including vinyl soundtracks, acrylic models, a Vivi mug, and a wearable Black Mage hat, Square Enix has released new bios featuring fresh artwork of the main cast of Final Fantasy IX.
Fans can visit the official FFIX 25th anniversary site to see these new additions, as well as the rest of what is on offer. We’ll list them below.

The first four members of the party, the charming thief Zidane Tribal, the brave Princess Garnet Til Alexandros 17th, her loyal bodyguard Adelbert Steiner, and the young black mage Vivi Ornitier, were released a few weeks ago, with the other half added earlier today.

The loyal dragoon Freija Crescent, the intriguing Blue Mage Quina Quen, the defiant White Mage Eiko Carol, and the stoic mercenary Salamander Coral make up the rest of the party you play as in FFIX.
These new character artworks, along with some of the newly announced merchandise, were created by Toshiyuki Itahana, the original character designer for Final Fantasy IX.
Square Enix has been releasing Final Fantasy IX-related updates on a regular cadence since the 25th anniversary site was launched, with the time gap between today’s FFIX news and the previous update being the shortest.
It’s lovely to see Square Enix give so much attention to this critically acclaimed JRPG, but FFIX fans have been waiting for any sign of the heavily rumoured Final Fantasy IX Remake that was originally mentioned in the Nvidia leaks back in 2021, and this constant drip feed of merch and updates won’t be calming any nerves. Square Enix has made no official statements regarding the FFIX Remake rumors, so we wait for July 7th, the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX, and see what they have in store.
