How long is too long to wait for a crossover fighting game? While the genre is fairly popular, there are some crossovers that don't make it to western audiences. However, there is good news for fans of Ys and the Trails series. After 15 years of waiting for an official port, the wait is over. Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga will be releasing summer 2025.Â
Familiar characters from both series will be making appearances and there will be English dubbing on the game as well. Story scenes are stated to come to life with full voice acting and advertising heightened drama during battle as well. While not every character will be playable as a fighter, many other characters will make appearances as support characters. They'll provide backup in battle meant to help players win against their opponent.Â

Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga is not just a port. This is a remaster with graphics meant for HD and 4k screens. The Steam page lists 60FPS support and the ability to play online with rollback netcode for the first time. On Steam, players can also look to use mouse and keyboard although the recommendation (as with most fighters) is to use a controller.Â
This isn't the first time that Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga has received a dubbing of sorts. While this is the first official worldwide release, it is not the first English dubbing. The Geofront – Fan Localization Hub had previously released a fan dubbing in 2021. With Falcom previously stating an intention to focus further on Western markets, it's not surprising to see them do an official release. The question becomes, is the graphical updates and official voice cast enough for those who have played the fan release?
Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga will release summer 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC. Will you be picking up Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga this summer?
