Some Players Reporting Achievements Glitching In Doom: The Dark Ages

Doom: The Dark Ages has finally arrived. After its “premium” release gave players who wanted to pay a little extra a 2-day head start, the game is now releasing to everyone else, including day 1 on Xbox Game Pass. While the feedback from premium players so far has been mostly positive, there is one thing that is causing issues for some players, achievements not unlocking.

That’s right unfortunately some achievements/trophies are not unlocking for some users, and to make matters worse they are some of the more difficult ones. Some players have reported that despite getting all the requirements some of the following achievements haven’t unlocked for them:

Toy Collector – Acquire all Collectible demon toys
Lore Nerd – Acquire all Codex Lore pages
Essential Health – Acquire all Demonic Essence Health upgrades
Essential Armor – Acquire all Demonic Essence armor upgrades
Essential Ammo – Acquire all Demonic Essence ammo upgrades
Essentially Unstoppable – Acquire all Demonic Essence upgrades
Berserker – Acquire All Shield Base, Shield Rune, and Melee Weapon upgrades

I can personally speak from experience after reviewing the game and writing guides for all the collectibles and upgrades that the Berserker achievement is currently glitched for myself. It’s not the end of the world by any means but it has prevented me from being one of the first to complete the game.

The good news in all of this is that it doesn’t appear to be a widespread issue. Many players have been able to unlock these achievements, and as I mentioned all the others unlocked for myself.

The down side is that there doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason for things not unlocking, which can make things more difficult for developer ID to fix. If it was the same one achievement that was broken rather than a bunch randomly glitching it would likely be easier to pin down the issue.

Only One Current Solution

To make matters worse the only current solution if any of these don’t unlock for you is to wipe your save, both locally and from the cloud and start a fresh game. This likely isn’t ideal to many, but it is currently the only fix.

In the case of the Berserker achievement the suggestion is not to buy any of the upgrades necessary until you have enough gold. Once you do you can purchase them all in 1 go at the same shrine. Again, not ideal,

Of course if it isn’t that big of a deal to you, you can simply wait it out in hopes of a fix. Bethesda has been made aware of the glitches but has yet to comment on them. If they do we will be sure to report on it. Consider this more as a PSA for those of you starting the game or looking towards a full completion or platinum trophy. Rip & Tear Slayers!
