You may not have heard, but there is a wave of exciting-looking 3D platformers planned to drop throughout 2025, and one of them has just announced it will be releasing later this month. That game is PaperKlay.
The announcement was made earlier today via the developer WhyKev’s social media accounts. The solo developed game is set to release on May 27th, 2025, on PC(Steam), and it has a new trailer to mark the occasion.
PaperKlay is a colourful 3D platformer/collectathon in the vein of the 90s-era classic like Banjo-Kazooie. You play as the plucky duo Chick and Nugget, as you adventure across a world made of crafting materials in search of the missing eggs.
Players can look forward to exploring bright and imaginative worlds that unfold and shift as you progress.
The game looks to be a real love letter to the games that clearly inspired it. In fact, the game’s title theme has been composed by the legendary Grant Kirkhope, who composed many of Rare’s titles over the years, including the Banjo-Kazooie series.

That’s not the only bit of star power behind the game. The voice cast also boasts voice actors from some iconic franchises, including Sly Cooper and Attack on Titan.
If you would like to learn more about PaperKlay, check out my interview with Kevin Andersson, the game’s creator, where we discuss the design journey of PaperKlay and his shift to being a solo developer.
There is also a demo for PaperKlay available on PC(Steam), which we highlighted in the first-ever issue of the GSC Demo Disc. A great chance to try it out before the game is released in just a few weeks!
Are you looking forward to PaperKlay later in May? Let us know in the comments.
