Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – All Stone Wave Cliff Collectibles Guide

We’ve made it to the end of Act 1 with the Stone Wave Cliff. This is the first area that has quite a few collectibles. With 3 journals, 2 paint cages, and 1 music record, it is definitely the most densely packed area up to this point. So without wasting any more time, let’s get into it.

You can read our in-depth Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Review here.

Journal #1 – Expedition 78

Location: Entrance Rest Point

The first journal is right near the start of the level. After reaching the entrance rest point, continue along but keep yourself up against the right-hand side of the path, along the rocks. You will come to a spot that has a rope you can ascend, which you want to do. At the top of this rope will be the journal.

Paint Cage #1

Location: Entrance Rest Point

We will use the entrance rest point as a reference point, but this paint cage is directly after the previous journal. From the journal, look behind it to see a little area tucked away. Inside is a paint cage.

Head to the right in this area and up the rope. You will see two locks from up here. One is high up on the rockface and the second is at the end of this elevated path.

The third lock requires you to drop back down to the area of the cage and go into a little crawl space on the left-hand side. Slip under and go to the end of this path. Look down behind the paint cage to find the last lock fairly well hidden behind some plants.

Journal #2 – Expedition 56

Location: Entrance Rest Point

Return to the main path now and fight the giant enemy that is blocking the path. Once defeated, you can head through to the next area, keeping left as you do so. You should notice the journal up ahead in front of an enemy. You will likely need to fight the enemy in order to get the journal, as it will attack you before you can get to it.

Journal #3 – Expedition 50

Location: Paintress Shrine Rest Point

Continue from the previous journal until you get to the next rest point. You will see a shipwreck down below, which is the main path for the level anyway. Head down there and keep to the left as you do, and you will see the next journal near what appears to be 2 people that have turned to stone.

Paint Cage #2

Location: Old Farm Rest Point

You will now head to an old farm area. Keep to the left in this area, and you will go up a small hill to the paint cage. Once you get to the top of the hill where the cage is, do a 180 to find the first lock back down the path you came up on some wooden blocks.

The second lock will be on the broken windmill.

The third lock is on the rocks to the left of the paint cage. This was one of the easiest cages to unlock so far, in my opinion.

Music Record #1 – Gustave

The last collectible is the music record, and you get it after completing the level. Once you've made your way through Stone Wave Cliff's head back in. You will then see the music record on the cliff’s edge.

This completes both the Stone Wave Cliff area as well as all the main areas of Act 1, assuming you've been following along. We will see you in Act 2!
