Mantic Games Founder and CEO Ronnie Renton noted in a statement about Assassin’s Creed: Animus:
"We're thrilled to be partnering with Ubisoft to create the Assassin's Creed board game. Fans can expect a deep respect for the franchise's lore and history, exciting asymmetric characters, and tough gameplay choices between pursuing your own objectives while needing to maintain their edge over other players."

What we know so far is the following regarding Assassin’s Creed: Animus, based on the preliminary details is that:
- The game will hold between two to four players (which if you're a board gamer, tends to be the standard across many games).
- They will recommend it for ages 12 and up (which again, is not surprising, given that many board games hold denser mechanics)..
- Gamers can expect a playthrough of the game to take between 40 and 90 minutes (the sweet spot for the length of a board game).

UK-based Mantic Games, known for such tabletop games as The Walking Dead: The Dice Game and Invincible: The Dice Game, are planning a Kickstarter launch to fund this upcoming game. The pre-campaign page is already live on Kickstarter. As of April 24 2025, there are just over one thousand individuals who have signed up for the pre-launch campaign.
Mantic Games, with awareness of the current state of affairs with tariffs in the United States, noted the following:
"Mantic Games is mindful of how the unfolding tariffs situation is currently affecting the tabletop community, and has scenario planning in place so that US fans will be able to back this project with confidence. More details will follow closer to launch."
It has been a good year so far for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, with Assassin's Creed Shadows becoming the franchise’s third highest selling entry in the US.
