EA Sports College and Metallica Hosting a Competition

With spring games and the NFL Draft this week, the next College Football 26 will be here soon. While we wait for more updates and details on the gameplay, rosters, uniforms, and more, today, EA Sports College announced they are having a Marching band competition.

Wait that is not all, it is also a collaboration with the legendary band Metallica. Yes, I said Metallica. EA Sports College and Metallica are joining forces to allow one college marching band to be in the game.

The competition is expertly named, "For Whom the Band Tolls." The winner of the competition gets featured in the game and given the opportunity to record the CFB theme song. The winner will also get to record a Metallica song for a future edition of CFB. We currently know that Division One schools can enter the competition. No details if FBS, FCS, or other divisions can enter the competition.

A substantial number of fans are hoping this collaboration gives us "Enter the Sandman" and other Metallica hits featured in the game. CFB 25 did not have a soundtrack, just band music. I am looking forward to seeing if this will open the door to more licensed music in the CFB games. Granted, we get to hear "Mo Bamba" played through in the stadiums in games, but a good soundtrack in the menus would be nice.
