Lords of the Fallen Releases V2.0 Update

Lords of the Fallen (2023) is a dark fantasy action RPG that serves as a reboot of the 2014 game. Set in a world ravaged by the return of the fallen god Adyr, players take on the role of a Dark Crusader navigating between two interconnected realms—the land of the living (Axiom) and the realm of the dead (Umbral). Using a magical lantern, players can shift between these dimensions to solve puzzles and engage in brutal combat against formidable foes.

Today the team over at CI Games have announced a huge update, overhauling many of the games systems and excitingly adding a full shared co-op experience.

Version 2.0

As detailed over on the Lords of the Fallen subreddit V2.0 has a huge amount of changes to the game, the most prominent being Full Shared Progression Co-op and Free Friend’s Pass.

The Full Shared Progression Co-op allows players to team up seamlessly in co-op mode, where both players retain all mainline progress. It includes automatic matchmaking or you can play alongside a friend—just ensure you’re in the same New Game playthrough and have defeated a similar number of bosses (within a margin of one).

Free Friend’s Pass allows those that don’t own the game to try it out with a friend that does. They’ll have solo access to the character creator and tutorial area, with saved character progress and loot between sessions. You’re free to play with as many different friends as you like, switching from one session to another.

Other Improvements

The post also outlines a host of other improvements such as:

  • Enhanced Combat Mechanics: Improved weapon responsiveness, upgraded lock-on with Grievous Strike prompts, and smoother evasions for more fluid battles.
  • Improved Combat Audio: Feel every clash, parry, and block with upgraded audio feedback, immersing you deeper into the fight.
  • Faster Soulflay: Soulflay is now quicker, making it an even more effective tool in combat.
  • Smoother Movement: Refined turning and running animations give you greater control

There’s also been an overhaul to the Character Creator, the addition of a jump button and improvements made to the tutorial and Lamp Guidance system, so if you’re friend choose to jump in they’ll get a new and improved experience with the game.
