Archetype Entertainment has released a new EXODUS Founders Q&A video, featuring General Manager Chad Robertson, Narrative Director Drew Karpyshyn, and Creative Director Jesse Sky, discussing their upcoming sci-fi RPG EXODUS.
According to Karpyshyn, EXODUS begins with a deeply personal story that gradually unfolds into an epic narrative. Players take on the role of a Traveler "” an explorer who ventures into the unknown in search of powerful Celestial artifacts and technologies.
The game combines linear story missions with elements of open exploration and role-playing, particularly in your home city. While not a sandbox game, EXODUS draws strong inspiration from titles like Knights of the Old Republic and the original Mass Effect, both of which Karpyshyn helped shape, focusing on choice-driven storytelling.
Key themes include complex character relationships, including romance. Because of long-term interstellar travel, you'll often be separated from loved ones for years, adding emotional weight to your choices. Player decisions not only shape the narrative but also deeply affect relationships, which in turn influence how the story unfolds.
The EXODUS Founders Q&A also introduced awakened companions"”genetically enhanced animals designed for better communication with humans. These companions range from cats and dogs to pigs and bears, and yes, it sounds like you'll be able to bring them along on your adventures.
