The Ninja Gaiden franchise is having quite the year in 2025. Ninja Gaiden II Black released in January and Ninja Gaiden 4 releases at the end of 2025. It’s a good year if you’re a fan of the franchise. If you can't wait until the end of 2025 to enter the universe, there is good news. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is releasing Summer 2025 and we’re getting more information about the game to keep us patiently waiting. Today, publisher Dotemu and developer The Game Kitchen have shared Kumori, the Black Spider Assassin with the following trailer.
In Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, Kenji Mozu is left to defend Hayabusa Village while Ryu is in America to avenge his father. This game will be the untold story of Hayabusa Village and runs parallel to the events of the original Ninja Gaiden game. Kenji has been trained by Ryu but isn't quite ready to do it all. When he finds himself in a desperate situation he allies with the Black Spider Clan to protect the world. For those unfamiliar with the franchise, the Black Spider Clan is typically the antagonists of the series. However, the only way to save the world is to use a forbidden power and merge two spirits.Â
You’ll navigate the journeys of two ninjas, Kenji and Kumori of the Black Spider Clan in this side scrolling adventure. The game not only runs parallel to the original, but revisits the 8-bit era while promising the intensity of modern gaming. The game also boasts “upgradable abilities, hidden collectibles, unlockable secret missions, optional challenges, and more.” Ragebound looks to live up to the past while still allowing for a new audience to join the franchise.

It’s possible we’ll see more reveals leading up to the release of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. Perhaps we’ll learn more about this “ninja fusion” power, or perhaps there’s more to this story than the trailer shares. Either way, this is looking to be a great entry into the Ninja Gaiden franchise.
NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound is due out for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and Steam summer 2025. You can wishlist Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound on Steam today.
