It's been seven years since the release of Among Us but it isn't quite done trying to engage with its audience. After seeing a rise in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was still more to conquer. In 2021, Among Us made it’s way to consoles. November 2022 saw the crew mates and imposter make their way to VR. This year also sees the release of the animated series. The cast of the Among Us series boast names such as Elijah Wood, Phil LaMarr, and Patton Oswalt.
Earlier this year, Among Us was announced to come to 3D. Now we know it’s release date is right around the corner. Among Us is coming to 3D on May 6th.Â
This new version of the game comes already complete with proximity chat built into the game, new and returning minigames, and customization for your crew mates. The Steam page also indicates "Join lobbies with other VR players! (Note: The game is NOT compatible with the original Among Us game. Sorry, beans.)"
If you've managed to get through the last few years without knowing about Among Us, at its core, Among Us is a social deduction game where crew mates try to complete tasks before the imposters kill them. Once there are more imposters than crew, the imposters win. If the crew can vote off all the imposters or complete tasks before imposters outnumber them, then they win. Among Us was available on PC and mobile for quite some time before hitting the mainstream success.Â

While the original game allows for up to 15 players now, the new Among Us 3D version states it will be for 4-10 players. When initially launched, Among Us 2D did not have all of the roles and updates it has now, so perhaps there is a chance for some of these additions to make their way to 3D.
You can wishlist Among Us 3D on steam now. Join the crew mates in the third dimension as you build or break friendships along the way. Will you be revisiting this pandemic favorite?
