Mario Kart World (Switch 2)
Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World takes place across various regions that ‘span the globe’. With time of day and weather affecting your tracks, it’s got Forza Horizon vibes. It’s got free roam, classic grand prix, and an eliminator mode.
It will be a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title. More information will be at a Mario Kart World Direct on 17 April.
Nintendo Switch 2 features
A first look at the official ‘Joy-Con 2’ controllers. With a look at the C button and what it can offer. The C button gives you access to a ‘chat menu’.
There’s an in-built microphone in the system that allows you to get involved in game chat (welcome to the 21st-century Nintendo). You can also turn on game screen sharing
A Nintendo Switch 2 accessory has been revealed that allows you to showcase yourself on your game screen and video chat while playing a game. That will be available on launch day.
GameChat will need a Switch Online subscription, but free access will be available for a trial period until 31 March 2026.
Gameshare will be coming to Switch 2, allowing you to temporarily share compatible games with up to three other systems between Switch and Switch 2 systems.
Nintendo Switch 2 System
- Bigger screen, same thickness.
- Double the pixels compared to Switch. Switch 2 has a 1080p screen and it can support up to 120fps.
- The screen is an LCD screen and supports HDR display.
- The Joy-Con 2 controllers are magnetic. They have bigger SL and SR buttons for horizontal Joy-Con controls. The controller sticks are bigger.
- Both Joy-Cons can be used as a mouse.
- The built-in speakers are clearer and more natural.
- Built-in microphone for in-game chat, and has built in noise cancellation.
- Has 3D sound, even if you don’t have surround sound systems.
- There’s a large, sturdy stand that gives more options for angle.
- A USB-C at the top and bottom of the console.
- Includes 256GB of internal storage.
- When docked, the Switch 2 can support 4K resolution and HDR (with compatible games).
- The Switch 2 dock, has a built-in fan to keep the system cool
- Is compatible with original Switch games (both physical and digital).
- The Switch 2 game cards will be red and have faster data access.
- Switch 2 will work with microSD express cards. They will not work with the original MicroSD used by the original Switch.
- A new Pro Controller will be launched alongside the system, including the C button and an audio jack.
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour (Switch 2)
Nintendo have built a videogame tutorial to help you understand and learn about the feature of the Switch 2.
It will be a paid digital game that will be available on Switch 2 launch day.
Launch Date
Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on 5 June 2025.
Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Games
These will be Switch 2 versions of games that launch on both Switch and Switch 2, allowing the Switch 2 to take advantage of the extra features of the Switch 2. You can purchase upgrade packs, such as the revealed Mario Party Jamboree upgrade.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will get Switch 2 upgrades, including improved frame rates and other features.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be getting improved graphics and framerate, and a new story to explore.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will benefit from a Switch 2 edition. It will get both performance and quality modes.
Pokémon Legends Z-A will get a Switch 2 edition that provides enhanced resolution and framerates.

Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions (Switch 2)
STARSEEKER is a new game set within the Astroneer universe with a focus on discovery, cooperative expeditions, and camaraderie. Exploring deep space on the ESS Starseeker, players will need to work together with the entire crew of the space station to complete planet- wide objectives across a multitude of star systems using cutting edge technology. Coming in 2026.
GameCube Switch Online
It was announced that GameCube titles will be making their way to Switch Online exclusively to Switch 2 subscribers.

More titles will be added in the future. They will be available on Switch 2 launch day. A dedicated GameCube controller will be released.
The Duskbloods (Switch 2)
Coming in 2026, a new game from FromSoftware, exclusive to Switch 2.
Kirby AirRiders (Switch 2)
A remake of the GameCube version that released 20 years ago.
Donkey Kong Bananza (Switch 2)
It releases on 17 July 2025.
