Capcom has been riding a wave of momentum for quite some time, and now Monster Hunter Wilds is taking the company to new heights. Today the company announced Wilds has sold 10 million copies in its first month, a record for the company.
This probably isn’t all that surprising considering the hype and reception around the game. Fans and critics alike have been glowing about the game including us. In our review we gave it a 9 saying “Monster Hunter Wilds is not a perfect game but its pretty close”. Of course the game went on to sell 8 million copies in its first three days, so an extra 2 million the rest of the month seemed like a safe bet.

In a press release to media the Capcom explained why it believes the game is doing so well, including cross-play for the first time as well as some innovative new features they introduced with Wilds.
“The title provides an environment where a wider range of players can enjoy the game together with the introduction of crossplay, a first for the series, and a simultaneous release on Playstation 5 system, Xbox Series X|S, and PC,” Capcom explained.
“Additionally, the introduction of the new Focus Mode mechanic and the implementation of seamless movement between settlements and ecosystems have provided an even more immersive gaming experience, while the fusion of numerous new elements with Monster Hunter's appeal has generated significant excitement, all of which led to the company first-month sales record of over 10 million units sold.”
Capcom’s best selling game in the companies history is Monster Hunter Worlds which is sitting at just under 22 million copies sold. It’s safe to say that Wilds may be able to surpass that in the coming years.

First Major Update Coming This Week
Of course Capcom isn’t planning to rest on its laurels with the game doing so well. We already know Wilds is getting its first major update later this week on April 3rd. That update will bring new features such as the Grand Hub, the legendary creature Mizutsune and much more. This will be just the first of many major free updates planned for Wilds as the game continues to evolve. The second major update is scheduled to release sometime in the summer of 2025.
