It won’t be long now until Forza Horizon 5 releases on the PlayStation 5, April 29th to be exact. Earlier this week the Forza team dropped a FAQ article on the Forza website and one particular item in there has caught everyone’s eye. Forza Horizon 5 will require a Microsoft account on PlayStation.
Of course you will need a PSN account as well which makes sense, you are playing on PlayStation after all. But with the wording of the FAQ you will be required to log into both, with the Microsoft account being asked for when you first log into the game. Players will be required to link their PSN account to their Microsoft account. You can see the wording below:
Q: Do I need a Microsoft account to play Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5?
A: Yes, in addition to a PSN account you'll need to link to a Microsoft account in order to play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. This process begins the first time you start up the game on your console.

Just The Beginning?
This will likely become common practice the more Xbox ports their games over to PlayStation, at least with the online focused games. With Indiana Jones headed to PlayStation later this spring we will find out if it will just be standard practice going forward for single player focused games as well.
Forza Horizon 5 launches April 29th for PlayStation 5. Players can also opt to purchase the premium edition to unlock the game early on April 25th.
