After years of a variety of beta programs at Sony Interactive, PlayStation users can now sign up for a centralized beta program initiative. Sony promises an easier, more consolidated way for PlayStation users to sign up to be beta testers.
The registration website currently lists two types of beta testing, one for the PS5 console and the other for PC. On the PS5 console, the website indicates “Testing focus areas may include game concepts, and trials at early, mid, or later stages of game development.” For those who would be part of the PC beta testing, the statement is slightly more vague indicating, “various stages of development to help us create incredible PlayStation experiences on PC.”

Sony has listed a thorough FAQ section for interested users who may need some convincing. At this time, the beta program is open to all PlayStation Network regions. Testing is not limited to games on the PlayStation 5 and PC. Testers may also be called upon to test upcoming system software and all participants must sign Non-Disclosure Agreements.
Signing up for your chance to be a beta tester is easy. In my experience, I answered less than 10 questions including favorite genre and favorite play modes. Even with this information, different testing will be by invite and not all testers will receive invitations to all beta testing.
The beta program is available to those who meet the following requirements:
- Players must have a valid account for PlayStation Network in good standing with a current email address.
- Players must live in the region where Beta Program at PlayStation is available.
- Players must meet the legal age requirement for their region.

Accepted users will receive an email with more information soon after seeing the above congratulatory screen. Once enrolled in the program, users will need to keep an eye on their email for future invitations to specific beta testing.
