The latest game to attempt to make a splash in the free to play multiplayer market just took a hit to its chances of doing so mere days before its release as Fragpunk's console launch has been delayed.
In a post to the Fragpunk X account it was announced that the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game have been indefinitely delayed. The game was scheduled to release on March 6th and will still release on that day for PC. Fragpunk is a 5v5 hero shooter that is looking to break into the genre alongside games like Overwatch 2.

The delay on consoles is because the game experienced "unexpected technical challenges in optimization and adaptation". In other words it appears it failed the certification process for both Xbox and PlayStation. Why this is just happening 2 days before launch is curious to say the least.
Perhaps what makes things even more curious is merely 9 hours ago from the time of this report the Fragpunk YouTube channel was posting a video promoting the games release on console. Whether the certification just failed now or they somehow thought they could get it fixed and certified in time remains to be seen.
Console Players To Be Compensated
Because of this delay happening so close to launch, the developers have announced that when the console version does go live all players will receive all rewards from engagement from the pc launch up until the day the console version releases. Additionally, those who pre-ordered the console version will receive $10 worth of in game currency.
Truthfully it will be interesting to see if Fragpunk ever sees the light of day on console. With no date given for release if the game doesn't do well on PC out the gate it's entirely possible they just pull the plug on consoles.
