Introduction
Obsidian’s latest RPG is further proof of the studio’s brilliant writing and world building, and it’s not just limited to the game’s main story. Avowed’s side quests have some of the best characters and narratives in the Living Lands, often designed with multiple conclusions the player can reach depending on their choices. The ‘Dawntreader’ quest is one of the earliest examples of this, with one particular outcome tied to unlocking the appropriately named “Get in the statue, Envoy” achievement. (Neon Genesis Evangelion fans will no doubt enjoy the reference!)
How To Start The ‘Dawntreader’ Quest
After the events of your rather rude reception at the gates of Paradis, make your way to the South Western corner of the city, near to the main quest marker for meeting the ambassador.

You will find a young wounded man by the name of Ofryc with a quest marker above his head. Speak with him and he will tell you how the Aedyran Expedition Team are searching for a relic in the Temple of Eothas. His brother Caedmon is with them and injured as well. He will also tell you about the Oracle, another Godlike living in the secluded temple. Agree to help Ofryc’s brother and find the team, and set off to the North of Paradis. (There is a fast travel point right next to the entrance to the Temple of Eothas.)

Completing The ‘Dawntreader’ Quest
Enter the Temple of Eothas area, and you will find a guard and another person arguing outside the entrance to the cave. Deal with them and enter.
Make your way along the linear path of the cave, and after hopping over some electrified water and going up a flight of stairs you will find the wounded Caedmon. He explains that the Aedyran Expedition Team left him behind to find the relic. He also suggests speaking with the Oracle, as he was likely the last person to see the team.

Leave Caedmon and make your way down to where the large statue you saw earlier across the cave, where the Oracle waits. Speak with him, and he will introduce himself as Sargamis, a Godlike of Eothas. He claims to have not seen the Aedyran Expedition Team, and asks if you will help him retrieve the relic they are searching for. Agree to help and continue on with the quest. (Be sure to not touch anything in the area round the statue, we don’t want to upset Sargamis.)
Follow the marker for the relic, doing some light parkour and fighting to get there, but otherwise it’s a pretty straight path. Oh look, the door to the relic is wide open, and it’s just sitting there. Seems a bit too easy right? Yup, as soon as you pick up the relic, battle breaks out with skeletons rising up from the ground. After defeating a couple of waves, a boss called the Godless Executioner will arrive with some more skeletons supporting them. We would recommend picking off the mobs first, making the healer a priority target, and then focus all your attention on the boss. Don’t forget to use Kai’s Fire and Ire ability to build up stun on the boss.

After defeating the Godless Executioner, head back to Sargamis. (You do have the choice to find the Aedyran Expedition Team and what happened to them, and we recommend you do that, but this guide focuses on unlocking the “Get in the statue, Envoy” achievement.)
Speaking With Sargamis
Note: Make a save before you speak with Sargamis again, as you’ll likely want to take a different path to the one needed for the achievement.

When you return to Sargamis you want to agree to help him by putting the relic into the statue of Eothas he has built. Climb up the scaffolding to reach the statue’s chest and insert the relic into the cavity. Hop back down and join Sargamis by a lever, pull it and watch a short cutscene.
The statue fails to power up, and Sargamis is distraught. Speak with him again and he will you to put “your chime” or soul into the statue (the same fate that befell the Aedyran Expedition Team). Agree to do this, despite Kai’s worries.

Sargamis will instruct you to stand on a dais under a piece of glowing appratus, just stand where the quest marker is. Wait there as Sargamis turns on the machine and you are killed in a burst of purple light! The “Get in the statue, Envoy” achievement will pop on the death screen. The game autosaves before you sacrifice yourself, meaning the only ways to finish the quest are to sacrifice yourself again in a perpetual loop, or kill Sargamis. This is why we recommend saving before returning to the Godlike with the relic.
