Eternal Strands Roadmap Announcements

Yellow Brick Games’ debut title Eternal Strands has been out for almost a month and there is more to come. For a debut title, Eternal Strands garnered very positive reviews, including one from GSC. The developers aren’t done yet with Brynn and the weavers and have just released their 2025 roadmap.

The 30 Day Patch

March 2025 is first on the roadmap with a few small tweaks and improvements that will make a big difference. Notably included in the upcoming update, Brynn’s movement is reworked. “Something to note about Brynn’s movement is that much of how it feels is intended and attributable to how a 100% physics-based sandbox game like Eternal Strands is designed to work.” However, by their own admission, Brynn’s movement can’t be as reactive in the animation. To fix this, acceleration speed has been enhanced, direction changes will be “snappier”, and reaching a speed or slowing will happen quicker.

Players will get a more responsive combat experience seeing their enemies react faster than before. Those who enjoy the two handed blade will notice the base combo will be faster. Sword and shield sprint attack movement distance also receives a rework so you shouldn’t be overshooting the target anymore.

The biggest change in the first update is that you will no longer lose your inventory when you fall. Yellow Brick Games has shared, “we’ve removed the penalty from falling deaths. After this update, if you try yeeting yourself onto that little island in Upper Dynevron with an ensnaring blast but miss your landing and plummet into the Miasma, you’ll respawn at the nearest Loomgate with all of your loot.” For many this will like a welcome respite, especially when some of those materials are so hard to come by!

Spring & Summer 2025

After the initial update, we’ll be receiving new content into the game. There will be a new map to explore as well as a new power for Brynn to wield. Yellow Brick Games had previously announced their collaboration with concept artist Yusuke Mogi and soon we’ll see this unveiled. We now know that this will be more than just a new epic beat but an additional armor set and weapon skins for Brynn to explore the world in.

Summer brings us more original content in collaboration with Grasshopper Manufacture. The Eternal Strands team is keeping secretive about this one but hopefully we’ll receive some hints as we move closer to summer.

Reddit AMA with the Devs

For those with questions and a reddit account, the devs have planned an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Thursday, February 27th, at 11AM ET. Four studio Co-Founders will be joining the event along with an Art Director, Two Designers, and their Chief Technical Officer to name a few. Based on a few answers so far, they promise future content and roadmap info to share. Questions are already being entered so if there’s something you need to know, now is your time!

For those who have already purchased the game, there is great news, these two planned DLC are free! For those who have not purchased yet, there’s no time like the present. Eternal Strands is out now on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S.
