Many Xbox gamers who use the rewards program like to talk about how the system helps them afford their Game Pass subscription. Unfortunately for those users it’s about to get more expensive.
As first reported by Pure Xbox some reward users who use the auto-redeem feature have been receiving emails saying the amount of points required to redeem Xbox Game Pass will be going up effective April 20th, 2025. You can see the email below.

There is no mention of what the new price will be or if anything else will be affected in the email. The current price in Canada is 12,000 reward points for 1 month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or 7,750 for 1 month of PC Game Pass.
Big “Price” Hike
However if you go to the Microsoft rewards store on Xbox you will now see two options for the auto redeem feature. One shows one month of PC Game Pass for 10,500 points. The other shows one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for 17,000 points. Both options are a pretty substantial increase on the previous number.

Why this is being changed is yet to be determined. Whether this implies Xbox Game Pass is about to get another price increase, or this is Microsoft just trying to balance out the reward system more we will have to wait and see for a more official statement.
As some of you may recall we went through something similar back in July when Xbox changed the Game Pass tiers. Between that and the recent changes to the reward quest system in January I’m hopeful this is just a reward change and not a price change.
While the reward system is a great feature, I’m sure Microsoft wants to avoid making it too easy for users to get free Game Pass. Either way, things are getting more expensive (in points that is) for those who do use the reward system.
