At last weeks State of Play, Sony confirmed that Days Gone would be the latest PlayStation 4 title to receive the current-gen remastered treatment, with Bend Studio's open-world zombie entry re-releasing on April 25 2025.
The Remastered version of the game promises quality of life improvements including graphical enhancements, full DualSense wireless controller support, new accessibility features and an enhanced photomode. The remaster also includes new mode Horde Assault, as well as permadeath and speedrun modes.
It has now become apparent that players who play Days Gone via PlayStation Plus will not be eligible for the $10 upgrade to the digital only remaster. The $10 upgrade path will only be for players who own the physical version of the PlayStation 4 title, or have fully purchased a full digital version. At the time of writing this article, it appears that the original Days Gone has been replaced by the Remastered version on the PlayStation Store.
Meaning, for those with a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition the only option to experience Days Gone Remastered will be to buy the full new $49.99 release. PlayStation 5 Disc Edition owners may wish to secure a budget physical copy of the PlayStation 4 release then pay the upgrade fee.
Following the announcement of Days Gone Remastered, side-by-side images of the original and remaster have been circulating social media platforms, seeming to show a very lacklustre visual upgrade.
