In a report published on What’s On Netflix, a company representative confirmed that six game launches have been cancelled as “part of adjusting our portfolio as we learn more about what our members like.” This comes after Netflix closed down their own AAA studio last year, which was working on a multiplatform game with a new IP.

Here is a list of the games that will no longer be launching on Netflix:
- Compass Point: West
- Don’t Starve Together
- Lab Rat
- Rotwood
- Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game
- Thirsty Suitors
The six titles listed titles will go ahead with launches on other platforms, in particular PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
Several mobile titles also had their servers shut off or were simply removed from Netflix at the end of last year, including titles like Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon and Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story.
While Netflix Games has seen some success with tie-in games, like Squid Game: Unleashed, these victories have been few and far between. In a recent earnings call, Netflix’s co-CEO Greg Peters said that they would be focusing more on party games, kid’s games, and known IPs. Their choice to use Grand Theft Auto as a franchise they would like on the platform belies their ambition, but it feels as though they may be trying to run when they haven’t mastered walking yet.
Are you disappointed that these six games will no longer launch on Netflix? Let us know in the comments.
