Karma The Dark World Final Preview

Sometimes, a game gets its teeth in me, be it through a demo, trailer, or just a quick write-up from somewhere that I read. Sometimes, a game scares the living hell out of me, and for some reason, I can’t help but want more of that uncomfortable cold feeling. Some might call me crazy for liking that feeling, but who can tell?

Anyway, back in October, I did an early preview for a game called Karma: The Dark World, and if you’ve read that, you know I had a ton of fun with it. I had only 2 questions after playing it “What the hell did i just play, and when do I get more?” Well I was able to go hands on again with a final preview of the game, and I jumped at the chance.

I sure hope not

I wouldn’t call this game survival horror, although it does give off some of the same vibes with the puzzles, creepy vibes, and atmosphere that some of the most well-known games of that genre. Combat isn’t really a thing here(at least not in this preview or the demo i referenced earlier), so just keep that in mind.

What’s Going On In Karma?

In the preview of Karma: The Dark World, the date is April 30th 1976, and you are Daniel Mcgovern, who works for the thought Burero who has tasked you with hunting down one Sean Mehndez, who’s stolen something important. After going to his work and meeting with what appears to be his boss you’ll make your way through a series of puzzles, unlocking peoples desks and the like, but not before the appearance of a strange shadowy figure. After tracking down and opening Sean’s desk, you will find what you were sent there for, after which Sean makes an appearance. As you try to question Sean, your vision becomes blurred, and he seemingly disappeared down the hallway.

You’d do well to take that advice, but you won’t

Chasing after Sean, you’ll walk through a doorway and be transported to what appears to be the inside of his house, dropped in red cloth backdrop with a mannequin family in the corner. After rummaging through notes and what appears to be a birthday card, you’ll notice the lifeless family has traveled to the couch to watch some TV. After walking the flickering screen with them til they lead you down a hallway that wasn’t there earlier where you’ll enter an elevator and the preview of Karma: The Dark World ends.

Oh yay, this room looks like loads of fun

So What Do I Think?

Just like that, just like the demo, I was left with more questions than answers in this preview, and I’m still asking, “What the hell just happened?" Between the demo and this preview I’m not 100% sure I’ll get all the answers I’m looking for but I’m looking forward to playing the full game and taking whatever ride Karma: The Dark World is going to take me on. Color me intrigued in the best way possible, and I absolutely cannot wait to experience whatever the hell the full game has in-store.
