February, better known as crazy month in gaming is quickly approaching. And while one game may have been delayed out of the month, Civilization VII is full steam ahead with its February 11th release date. Today the developers showed off one of the many leaders you can play, Lafayette.
What makes todays first look so interesting is who the character is and what makes the Civilization franchise so great. Historical games like this often stick to the most notable characters in history. Benjamin Franklin, Napoleon and Harriet Tubman to make a few. And while Civilization certainly has those characters as well, these perhaps lesser known characters really separate it from other games.
Lafayette is exactly that. A French American leader who rose to prominence in the late 1770's during the American Revolution. During that time period you are quick to think of the George Washington's and Thomas Jefferson's of the world, however Lafayette played a significant role as well.
As far as Civilization VII is concerned, Lafayette has leadership abilities of cultural and diplomatic. His agenda is Gains and Reform and he likes fellow leaders who prioritize urban districts rather than many smaller colonies. He also has combat and social boosts and fits well with the French Empire.
With so many great nations, empires and leaders to control, it's no wonder Civilization VII is hotly anticipated. Civilization VII launches February 11th on Xbox, PC, Nintendo and PlayStation. Those who pre-order the deluxe edition receive the game 5 days early on February 6th.
