It’s fair to say that Ubisofts Assassin’s Creeds Shadows has had its fair share of issues in the past year or so. Between controversial reveals and questions of quality, we get to add delays to the list.
Originally expected in 2024 before being delayed into 2025, today it has been announced via the official Twitter/X account for Assassin’s Creed Shadows that the game is getting another. It will be a short delay from February 14th to March 20th.

“We wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible fans and dedicated teams for your unwavering support since our announcement in September to further refine and polish Assassin’s Creed shadows” it reads. Later in the statement, they reveal “the new release date is March 20th, 2025. We remain committed to delivering a high-quality imersive experience fostered by ongoing dialog between our players and development team”
They do state that they feel a few more weeks will help get the game more polished. While that may be true, this does pull the game away from releasing in the same few weeks window as games like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Avowed and Capcom’s new Monster Hunter entry. This does Ubisoft and the fans a big favour.
While this new release date will likely be welcomed by many, it will still launch in a crowded window around games such as Split Fiction, Killing Floor 3 and Two Point Museum. Thankfully those games aren't as much of a direct competition to all the RPG's coming in February.
Ubisoft has a lot riding on Shadows as the company appears to be reeling from multiple under performing games. Assassins Creed is undoubtedly their biggest IP so if anyone franchise can turn the fortunes around it's Shadows.
