Last week Microsoft accidentally banned many Microsoft Rewards members and quickly reversed it. It looks like the error was because they were busy working on a bug new update because date Xbox has announced a revamped Xbox Game Pass Quest system to help you earn more rewards.
The new Quest rewards is already live and brings a few big changes. Before we get to the changes in how you earn, we should perhaps touch on the change to eligibility. To better align with Xbox's "age appropriate gaming experience" rewards will only be available to anyone 18 or older. Anyone under 18 can earn reward points via parental approved game purchases only.
Now these actual changes won't affect your current Microsoft Rewards. Anything you've earned so far will still be there. So that exactly is changing? For starters reward quests will now be available for PC Game Pass. This is a significant change as they previously were only available with Xbox Game Pass and mobile. Quests will also launch in Japan for the first time.
Ways To Earn
The following will now be ways to earn via the Game Pass Quests:
- Daily Play - Earn 10 points a day by playing any game from the Game Pass catalog for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks - Play for at least five days a week to complete your streak. The more days you play, the more points you earn. Now comes the challenge: maintain your streak week over week to unlock bigger point multipliers. A 2-week streak will earn 2x the base streak points, a 3-week streak will earn 3x the base streak points, and anything beyond a 4-week streak will earn 4x the base streak points.
- Monthly 4-Pack - Explore the Game Pass catalog by playing four different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every month."¯
- Monthly 8-Pack - Push your gaming further and play eight different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every calendar month. Don't worry, the 4 games from your 4-Pack count towards the 8-Pack, too."¯

Also starting tomorrow, January 7th there will be a new PC Game Pass bonus. This bonus will award players 150 points when playing (for at least 15 minutes) for 5 days or more on PC Game Pass.
All of today's changes are part of Microsoft's commitment to making the Reward system better for all. We will see how these changes affect things going forward and how much of a positive change it is.
