Sony has been hard at work expanding its entertainment empire. Whether it's the big screen with Uncharted or the small screen with The Last Of Us, Sony has found success in adapting its PlayStation IPs. It only makes sense then that today Sony is doubling down on that with multiple new film and tv projects announced.
Sony held a conference today at CES to showcase some of the things up their sleeve. While some of what was announced was already known, others were at best rumoured. Sony has now made them all official. As always we've got all the details.
Horizon Zero Dawn Movie Adaptation
Perhaps the biggest thing announced by Sony was the confirmation of a Horizon Zero Dawn film adaptation in collaboration with Columbia Pictures. Columbia Pictures previously teamed with Sony on the Uncharted movie so this seems like a natural fit.

Speaking on-stage at CES, head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash, said: “Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are at the early stages of developing a film adaptation of the award-winning Horizon Zero Dawn.
“Just imagine, Aloy’s beloved origin story set in a vibrant, far future world filled with the giant machines, brought to you for the first time on the big screen.”
Helldivers 2 Film In The Works
Helldivers 2 became a household name in the gaming world in 2024, becoming one of the best selling games of the year, and quickest selling PlayStation published game ever. And considering it's inspired by Starship Troopers it makes sense to want to turn the game into a movie.

Details are scarce on this one. All we currently know is it's in early stages of production and is being created by Sony Pictures.
Qizilbash said: “Looking ahead as to what might come next, I’m excited to announce we are working with Sony Pictures on developing a film adaptation of our amazingly popular PlayStation game Helldivers 2.”
Until Dawn Movie Details Emerg
The Until Dawn movie has been known about for quite some time now, with the movie set to release in 2025 on April 25th. We know it has a solid cast that includes. includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Odessa A'zion, Maia Mitchell and Peter Stormare.

While Stormare may be reprising his role from the game in the film we now know it will be a completely new story with a new set of characters. The movie will pay homage rather than be a straight up adaptation.
Ghost Of Tsushima Anime Announced
PlayStation is also diving into the world of anime with the announcement of an anime Ghost Of Tsushima tv series coming exclusively to the Sony owned Crunchyroll subscription service.

The series will be the first ever PlayStation anime adaptation and will follow the Legends of co-op multiplayer portion of Ghost Of Tsushima. The series is in collaboration with Aniplex and is set to debut in 2027. It will be directed by Gen Urobuchi on story composition and animation by Kamikaze Douga.
"The Ghost of Tsushima anime will offer fans an exciting new way to experience the game in an anime style that will be bold and groundbreaking," commented Rahul Purini, president of Crunchyroll.
"Having already proven the immense quality and versatility of our gaming properties across multiple successful film and television projects, we couldn't be more excited to announce our first ever anime adaptation," added Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions.
"Ghost of Tsushima's rich, immersive world and its fantastical Legends mode based on Japanese mythology provide the perfect canvas for this project, and Aniplex is the perfect partner to translate Sucker Punch Productions' hit video game into a stunning new anime series."
The Last Of Us Season 2 Gets Release Month
Last but certainly not least we got a teaser trailer for season 2 of HBO's hit series The Last Of Us. Fans have been clamouring for the next season and while we don't have an exact date, we now know it's coming in April.

Season 2 is set to heavily feature Abby and the teaser gives us a bit of a sneak peek of what to expect. Abby can be heard saying “It doesn’t matter if you have a code like me. There are just some things everyone agrees are just… wrong."
And there you have it. Everything announced by Sony today at CES. Are you as excited as the rest of us to see these franchises on the big (or small) screen?
