Project Tower, the bullet hell shooter from French studio Yummy Games has been on our radar for quite some time. Having previewed the game back in June we've been waiting for this day. That's right Project Tower releases today, January 6th.
To celebrate the launch, Yummy Games released a launch trailer to showcase the game. For a studio known for making mobile games, Project Tower is quite the console and pc debut, especially for just a 4 person team.
Project Tower is a third person linear action adventure game that melds bullet hell with an ability to morph into your enemies, known as Hiks. Fight your way through waves of enemies and bosses as you work your way to the top of the tower.
While the game has been compared to Returnal quite a bit, and it is one of their inspirations, in our interview with them last summer, Yummy Games wanted to emphasize it's much more than a Returnal clone.
"Returnal is one of most well known games in the bullet hell genre. Of course it's one of our inspirations! We really liked the fast paced gameplay and the quality of the bosses' fight. So for all the bullet part of Project Tower it was a good reference."

"But let's not forget that our game is more than bullet hell, the morphing mechanic adds an enormous dimension to the gameplay + all the puzzles. So we understand the comparison but people will see when they play that it's got its own identity."
Now that Project Tower is out in the wild fans can get their hands on this epic adventure. Project Tower is available for PlayStation 5 and Steam as of today.
