After years of development hell due to the war in Ukraine, Stalker 2 was finally released on November 20th of this year. Now after nearly a month later, the game has already turned a profit according to the owner of the games development studio.
Speaking in an expansive interview with Forbes Ukraine, Maksym Krippa, an investor into GSC Game World, spoke on a wide range of topics, one of which being Stalker 2. While the interview is behind a paywall we do have a bit of a summary from Forbes Ukraine here.

While specific numbers wern't divulged what we can take away from the interview is that Stalker 2 has already turned a profit. When asked by Forbes Ukraine how much the game would need to sell in order to be commercially successful Krippa said “We’ve already sold enough to make the project profitable.”
What exactly does that entail? When asked what it cost to make Krippa didn't say, just that it was "Of course, it’s tens of millions of dollars". What we do know is the game had sold a million copies after its first 2 days. We haven't seen an update since, but between the sales and whatever money they received for their Xbox Game Pass deal it's clearly been enough to turn the profit.
This is great news for a developer who needed to have some success after everything they've gone through. And while the game launched in a rather bug filled state the studio has been hard at work pushing out patches to make the experience that much better. As someone who's been playing since launch I can say those fixes have helped the technical side of things.
With today's news I think it's safe to say we haven't seen the last of the Stalker franchise even beyond the planned dlc and possible port to PlayStation consoles in the future. For now if you are interested you can play Stalker 2 on PC and Xbox as well as on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
