Univrs are a game developer out of Tokyo, Japan who specialize in VR gaming, before tackling Attack on Titan, Univrs have developed Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing.
Having never watched the Anime that Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable is based on I had no idea what to expect. What I was met with was swinging around like spiderman with blades almost as big as me and giant naked dudes' hell bent on eating me, and boy oh boy did they eat me.

Before we get started, I am going to say that Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable gave me bad motion sickness both standing and sitting. It got so bad that I could only play 10 minutes at a time. Which definitely took away from my enjoyment.
Swinging your way to victory.
Like all VR games they are make or break with the controls, and this is where Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable loses me. Your left and right controllers are connected to grappling hooks that can be shot out, and with a pull towards yourself you shoot off in that direction.

Your hooks have "˜gas' which you must keep an eye on because if you run out mid swing you just fall to the ground, ready to be eaten. Luckly there is no fall damage, you just have to wait for your gas to recharge and you're off again.
While you are swinging you can hold left or right on either thumb stick to swing in that direction. There is also a dodge in all directions by clicking in either thumb stick while holding a direction, but these dodges are linked to your gas reservoir so be careful.

Now onto the combat. Equipped to your grappling hooks are massive blades or is it the other way around? that you need to use to kill the Titans. Now the Titans do not mess around, they will swing at you, try and crush you if you fall to the ground and even try to eat you, which ends up in a game over.
To kill a Titan you must slash at the nape of their neck, seems simple enough, however they don't really like that and will try anything to get you to stop. You can focus on the Titans limbs and dismember them to create openings for the killing blow.

Something else to keep in mind, the blades only have 3 or 4 uses before the break. Luckly, you have a few spare, just hit A or X depending on which blade is broken to eject it then thrust that hand down to your waist to reload, then your back in the action. You can only hold a few blades at a time so keep an eye out for glowing red clips on the ground.
Gameplay Loop
After the tutorial, Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable starts you out on a tower overlooking the city. Surrounded by cool looking blades that you aren't allowed to use until you have earned them.

Each mission has a set number of objectives. Unfortunately, there are only 3 objectives. Kill a certain number of Titans, collect supplies and defend a building for "˜x' amount of time. So, after the third mission I had completed everything Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable has to offer.

You can unlock different blades by getting 5 stars on each level, but because of the lack of variety I had no want to go back.

I played Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable on the Meta Quest 2 and had no performance problems. The game ran smoothl,y and when I wasn't feeling like I was reading in a car, I had fun in small doses.
Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable has got a great base and with some more things to do could be a great game.

Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable was reviewed on Meta Quest 2 and is also available on Meta Quest 3/3S and Pro
I would like to thank Univrs for the review code.
