There are quite a few things to do in the desolate world of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. With plenty of unique side missions to do you will have plenty of opportunity to gain coupons and loot. One of those missions however is so unique it will literally take your breath away, and not just because of the scenery. That’s right, we’re talking about The Poppy Field.
How To Start Quest
The Poppy Field side mission is actually one of the earliest missions you can do in Stalker 2. Once you get through the prologue and into the first encampment of Zalissya you can start this mission. To do so head into the building where Hamster the trader is. Here you will see a man named Mityay who will ask you to go fetch a precious family heirloom from a root cellar near his childhood home in you guessed it, The Poppy Field.

Before heading out you should stock up on some energy drinks if you don’t already have a bunch. Not only is it quite a hike to The Poppy Field but The Poopy Field itself will drain you of your energy and kill you without them.
Finding The Root Cellar
Finding the root cellar hidden in The Poppy Field will be quite the challenge without a little guidance. Luckily you have this guide to help you out, however there is more to this quest. Once you get near the Poppy Field a voice will come over your radio from a man named Pomor. Pomor lives in a house just outside of the Poppy Field and is willing to give you the cellar location for either a fee (2,000 coupons) or completing a job.
The job itself is simple enough but not without risks. It requires you to head into the Poppy Field and loot other Stalkers that have died in the field and bring Pomor the loot. There’s 5 bodies in total to find and loot.
I’d recommend doing neither as you can see the location below, but it is important to talk to Pomor as he wants to buy the heirloom off you.

Head to the cellar and collect the heirloom. As you walk through the field Skif will blink many times and you will want to drink some of those energy drinks before you pass out. Even with knowing the location you will likely need a few. With the heirloom in your possession quickly head back up the ladder and out of the Poppy Field.
Who To Give The Heirloom To?
So now you have options, who do you give the heirloom to and what do you get in return? You ultimately have 3 options here.
- Give the heirloom to Pomor
Giving the heirloom to Pomor will get you a fancy new gun, with a major catch. While the gun is good, it’s currently broken and will cost a significant amount of coupons (just shy of 15,000 to get precise) to get in working shape.

- Give the heirloom to Mityay
Mityay will give you 1,350 coupons for returning his family heirloom. Considering how early you are likely doing this quest that is a good little boost to your wallet.
- Give the heirloom to Pomor and then kill him, loot his body and take the heirloom to Mityay
If you want to get greedy you can receive both the gun and the money by giving the heirloom to Pomor and immediately killing him. You can then loot his body and take the heirloom back. Doing this will also give you Pomor’s key which will unlock the door next to Pomor for even more loot. You can then head back to Zelissya and speak with Mityay, who has moved over to the bar, and return the heirloom.

Ultimately what option you pick is up to you, but I’d say go with either the second or third option. The gun is likely too expensive to be fixed up and the money at this stage is more valuable. Of course getting both is great too because hey, a Stalker has to do what he needs to do to survive in the Zone right?
