Sony Brings Us News on Five VR Games Coming to PS VR2

It’s bloody typical isn’t it. You wait ages for some Sony PS VR2 updates and then FIVE come along all at once…FIVE.

Yes, it would seem that Sony has remembered it has a Virtual Reality headset it sells, and although we’re yet to see any more first-party titles announced (or even teased), we’ve at least had a strong showing in the form of a bit of an info dump on the PlayStation Blog.

Check out all the highlights and news in the handy summary below.

Mare – Available Now (PS VR2) – already available on Meta Quest, Steam VR

Use lighting-like powers to help guide your AI companion through a mysterious archipelago. The PS VR2 version includes two modes. Use eye tracking to solve puzzles with a glance in Classic, or tackle expanded challenges with your Sense controllers in Enhanced mode. Whether searching for the next solution or taking a moment to take it all in, it's a worthwhile adventure for puzzle fans.

Trombone Champ: Unflattened – Releasing 26 November ( Meta Quest, PS VR2, Steam VR)

Trombone Champ: Unflattened lets you control the slide and blow your way through VR trombone-playing madness. Slide your arm, hit those pitches, and revel in the chaos of becoming the world's first virtual trombone virtuoso. With over 20 trombones to unlock, 50 cards to collect, and a slew of tracks across different game modes, there is plenty to keep players busy on their way to becoming trombone champs.

Masters of Light – Releasing 18 December (Meta Quest, PS VR2, Steam VR)

Become The Wanderer, a powerful being of light, and wield powerful magic in this spellcasting adventure from Coven. Learn the proper technique and strategic timing needed to cast spells as you battle an army of shadows that seeks to destroy the universe. Enjoy mystic visuals with the power of PS VR2 eye tracking and a 90Hz refresh rate that keeps the action steady, and feel the power of spell casting with haptic feedback.

Alien: Rogue Incursion – Releasing 19 December (Meta Quest 3, PS VR2, Steam VR)

The sci-fi horror has gone gold, and to celebrate, Survios shared a new story trailer and teased some new details as to what players can expect when they (crash) land on LV-354. Classic Alien themes - corporate corruption, personal greed, and professional hubris - are all represented, creating a perfect storm of conditions for a Xenomorph outbreak. Gemini Exoplanet Solutions' experimentation on the perfect organism has resulted in a tougher, faster, and more unpredictable version than what Zula Hendricks - and the player - has seen before.

Hitman World of Assassination – Releasing 27 March 2025 (PS VR2)

The team at IO Interactive have announced a new release date for the PS VR2 version of Hitman World of Assassination, moving from it’s scheduled December 2024 release window, to an early spring release date in March.

The entire main campaign of Hitman World of Assassination will be playable with full adaptive triggers and haptic support while adding positional interactions, which require players to physically mimic actions to turn off items, hack computers, and other actions to get the job done.

I haven’t played much VR since I reviewed Tin Hearts, but I’m certainly intrigued by a couple of these, not sure I’m brave enough for Alien: Rogue Incursion.

Are you excited for any of the upcoming PS VR2 releases? Are there any Sony first-party games you think should be getting the VR treatment?
