Yooka-Replaylee, the remaster of the 2017 platformer which was announced for PC some months back has also revealed yesterday that it will be coming to consoles. Yooka-Laylee from Playtonic games, a studio made of former Rare devs was envisioned as a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie franchise.
The game was widely anticipated as it was announced but garnered a more mixed reception when it launched as some felt it stuck to designs from a long gone era without modernizing them enough, although it still got a significant amount of praise for its visuals, soundtrack and respect for a genre that many game developers not named Nintendo had seemingly forgotten about.
On top of updates to the already impressive visuals, Yooka-Replaylee aims to update the controls, new challenges while also remixing various old challenges of the game( The infamous great rampo section of the game has been highlighted by many fans),add new mechanics and new customization options as well. Other changes include the addition of an in game map.

No release date has been set yet but Yooka-Replaylee is planned for launch on PC , PS5, Xbox series X/S and a more interesting tidbit. The game is simply said to launch on Nintendo but doesn’t state Nintendo switch specifically. Perhaps the game could launch around the time the successor to the switch releases which would be a big deal to have a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie be a launch title on a Nintendo platform.
