Another classic title is getting remastered for modern platforms as the much loved PS1 platformer, Croc: The Legend Of Gobbos has been announced. Developed by Argonaut Games back in 1997, the game sees you play as a young crocodile simply known as Croc. Croc sets out to defeat an evil magician known as Baron Dante after he captures a group of furry creatures known as Gobbos that rescued and raised Croc when he was a baby.
On top of a graphical update, the remaster will add in an in game museum detailing the games interesting development (it initially started as a Yoshi game for Nintendo). They also plan to modernize the games controls which is a good call since they were considered dated by some even in its initial release as the game launched a year after Super Mario 64 had revolutionized 3D platformers. Despite the controls being more mixed, Croc was a critical and commercial success for the PlayStation, selling over 3 million copies at the time and being praised for its impressive visuals and great soundtrack.
No official date has been set yet but, Argonaut claims the remaster will launch soon. Croc: The Legend Of Gobbos remaster is planned for release on PC, PS4 and PS5, Xbox series X/S and Xbox One, as well as Nintendo switch.
