Good news vampire fanatics. We’re getting a double-dose of new vampiric goodness this Halloween, thanks to the good folks at Poncle, the developers of gothic-horror bullet hell, Vampire Survivors.
Yes, announced today, Poncle revealed the latest DLC, their “biggest DLC to date” will be a crossover with the legendary franchise Castlevania!
This DLC has over 20 new characters, over 40 weapons, and the largest stage seen in the game so far. Check out the announcement trailer below:
Discussing the upcoming release on their website, Poncle have addressed some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). In it they talk about the inspiration for the DLC and the fact that Vampire Survivors was inspired by the The Belmonts of Castlevania and say that it’s been an honour to work with Konami again (they’d worked with them previously on the Contra DLC for Vampire Survivors).
The DLC will cost £2.99 / $3.99 (US) / €3.99, with Poncle claiming that the DLC is nearly as big as the original base game, hence the pricing. It is also cross-buy on PlayStation (PS4 owners will have access to it on the PS5 version should they choose to upgrade in the future).
Alas, for trophy and achievement hunters, this DLC will not have any new trophies or achievements. Poncle have said that they don’t like to tie trophies to paid DLC as it can impact people’s 100% unlocked ratios. Although an admirable sentiment, I’d be more likely to buy the DLC if it had achievements.
The DLC will release on 31 October 2024 and will be available on all platforms that Vampire Survivors is on, which is all of them: Mobile (Android and iOS), Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
