Only a couple days after the voice cast of this hotly anticipated RPG was announced in a new trailer, there is more news to share including the announcement of the game getting a physical release on Xbox Series and PS5.First announced at the Xbox Games Showcase back in June of this year, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 was a clear highlight for many and accrued a great deal of anticipation.
Developed by Montpellier based French Indie studio Sandfall Interactive, the game is a reactive turn-based RPG set in “a world of wonders inspired by Belle Époque France”. As part of announcing their new publishing partnerships with Bandai Namco EU and Maximum Entertainment, the the games’ twitter account dropped this short clip:
We're thrilled to announce our partnerships with @BandaiNamcoEU and @MaximumEntmt, who will be distributing the physical editions of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in select markets around the world. ?

Generating more buzz about the game, it also raised some questions from the fanbase. The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 twitter account posted again to talk about the games’ pricing, saying “We are a small team with an Indie spirit, and we’re creating something we believe is truly special. We aren’t an AAA studio, this is our first game, and we want as many people discovering our world as possible”.
What was also clarified is that the main campaign of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is at least 30 hours long, with “as much side content for our completionist Expeditioners.”

That is a lot to look forward to, and an impressive goal for the first game from a studio of no more than 60 people! The sign off “See you in the Spring” is likely an nod to when we will get our next big update about the game, and hopefully a release date.
We will keep doing our best to bring you updates on what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles of 2025. In the meantime, keep an eye on your favourite games retailer for upcoming pre-orders of the physical release.
