2025 gets another release on its crowded schedule as a new Tron game, Tron Catalyst has been announced. Being developed by Bithell games, The game is said to be a sequel to Tron Identity which launched in 2023.

It looks to be quite different from its predecessor however as Identity was a visual novel/puzzle game. Catalyst looks like a Diablo style action game. Taking place in the Arq Grid, the game sees you play as Exo, a courier computer program who gains the power of the glitch after a mysterious package she was delivering explodes. The game sees her fight on foot as well as on the franchise’s iconic light cycle vs the grid’s brutal peacekeepers and being pursued by Conn, a malevolent entity with an agenda of its own. As Exo fights, she discovers more about the glitch and tries to prevent the collapse of the Arq Grid itself.

Tron has a somewhat overlooked impact on the history of gaming. It was one of the earliest movies to use a video game world as its primary setting and spawned a successful game based on its first outing that proved to be more successful than the movie itself. It has had more games released than movies and has still been referenced or inspired other games released to this day.

The game doesn’t have a set date yet, though it wouldn’t be a shock to see it come out in the fall of 2025 as the upcoming Tron: Ares movie is set to release on October 10th of 2025.
Tron Catalyst is planned to launch on PC, Nintendo switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
