Easy Achievements / Trophy Games: Week of September 30th – October 6th

Some stacks on stacks available this week, most notably for Xbox which is sometimes on the rare side. Get your guns blazing with Damikira and Cats with Guns or put your brains to the test with Ballotron Galaxy. Lots of fun to be had while padding your Gamerscore or Platinum trophy count!

Damikira Cover Art

Damikira (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5)

Estimated Completion Time: 1 hour
Publisher: EastAsiaSoft
Developers: Brain-dead Rabbit Games, EastAsiaSoft
Release Date: October 2, 2024
Xbox Store Links: Xbox
Playstation Store Links: PS4/PS5

Just the one achievement list on Xbox. Trophy stack on PlayStation available between the PS4 and PS5 versions along with cross-buy.

Damikira offers a unique take on the shoot ’em up genre, blending elements of platforming with intense shooting and combo hunting. During each round, you’re given missions such as saving hostages, eliminating enemies, or reaching specific scores to boost your overall score and gain benefits. Some pickups can even alter the game environment, introducing effects like a pixelated screen or low gravity.

The game has a definite skill curve, and mastering the grappling hook"”your primary mode of transportation"”is key to navigating levels effectively. You can collect health, weapons, and ammo from defeated enemies, along with abilities like Berserk. The humor is on the crude side, making it less suitable for younger players. Rounds are relatively short, but the game does provide that “just one more round” feeling.

As for achievements and trophies, they're pretty straightforward: aim for a high score of 1,000,000, complete missions, rescue hostages, unlock weapons, take down numerous enemies, and even buy some hats. Just remember to have fun while you're at it!

Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel Cover Art

Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S

Estimated Completion Time: 30 minutes – 1 hour
Publisher: Ratalaika Games
Developers: Shinyuden, Sunsoft
Release Date: October 4, 2024
Xbox Store Links: Xbox
Playstation Store Links: PS4/PS5

Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel is a spin-off of the Aero the Acro-Bat games, also published by Ratalaika Games. Originally released in 1994 for the Sega Genesis and Super NES, this game follows Zero the Squirrel, who was Aero’s rival in previous titles.

The game features 15 stages where Zero utilizes his ninja skills to defeat enemies, along with platforming sections and several side-scrolling vehicle stages. Like other ports from Ratalaika, it includes a cheat menu accessible from the main menu, featuring options such as Infinite Throwing Stars, Infinite Health, Infinite Lives, Invincibility, Look Up with No Limit, and Unlimited Moon Jump. With these cheats enabled, you can easily run and jump through the levels to reach the end, especially if you’re aiming for achievements or trophies.

The game also includes turbo and rewind features and offers a choice between English and Japanese versions. To fully complete the game, you need to turn off the invincibility cheat during the final boss’s last stage to defeat him.

I'm pretty sure I would struggle without cheats, but I had a great time blasting through the game with them enabled!

Cats with Guns Cover Art

Cats with Guns (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows)

Estimated Completion Time: 30 minutes – 1 hour
Publisher: Synnergy Circle Games
Developers: Synnergy Circle Games
Release Date: October 1, 2024
Xbox Store Links: Xbox
Windows Store Link: Windows
Xbox Store Bundle Link: Xbox/Windows Bundle

Double stack on Xbox with the Xbox One/X|S version and Windows. Currently not available on PlayStation.

Cats with Guns is a super quick 2D roguelite game where you play as a cat fighting off hordes of rats that have taken over your town. As you progress, you collect XP to purchase new skills or upgrade existing ones, while coins can be gathered to unlock new cat characters from the start menu. The first campaign lasts about 10 minutes, featuring boss battles at the 5- and 10-minute marks.

Achievements in this game are straightforward: you can complete the first campaign three times to unlock everything, as you need to defeat the final boss three times. Other achievements involve collecting money, purchasing new cats, killing rats, and picking up items from treasure chests.

As a fan of roguelite games, I found this one enjoyable, despite its brevity. I'd recommend it for anyone looking to quickly earn some Gamerscore.
