After 25 years at Ubisoft Milan and an incredible and unique partnership with Nintendo as director of the Mario + Rabbids series, Davide Soliani has founded a new studio, Day 4 Night.
He is joined by fellow Ubisoft Milan alumni Mario Rabbids producers Cristina Nava and Gian Marco Zanna and designer Luca Breda, along with one of Red Dead Redemption’s lead designers and writers Christian Cantamessa as co-founder. Originally announcing his departure from Ubisoft Milan in June Soliani’s last day was the 30th August, the release day of Star Wars: Outlaws.
They have secured the studio’s first round of funding from Xbox founder Ed Fries and publisher Krafton, with both putting out statements regarding Day 4 Night.
Maria Park, Krafton’s head of corporate development, said “Day 4 Night’s pitch presented a highly engaging and captivating story. The game's vision stands out as both original and creative, making it a great match for the type of studios we aim to support at Krafton.”
1Up Ventures’ Ed Fries seemingly felt the same, saying “When you see a lot of pitches, like we do, it’s always incredibly fun when you get to hear an idea that’s completely new and original. This was easily the most creative thing we have seen in quite some time.”

The only other information we have on the Day 4 Night team’s first project is that it will be co-directed by Soliani and Cantamessa, and that it is based on a new IP. In their own statement, the studio said they are "committed to creating new content that pushes the boundaries of storytelling and game design."
Finally, Soliani has this to say about the team and their goals: "What we are crafting at Day 4 Night is a reflection of everything I've ever wanted to experience as a player - joy, adventure, poetry, action, wonder, and the pleasure of working with friends. It's a lullaby for my soul and a serenade to our industry, to the magic and the madness of creating worlds from nothing. It's a story about triumphs, challenges, dreams, to light the path we walk together."
