Ricky Recharge Cover Art

Ricky Recharge (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5)

Estimated Completion Time: 10+ Hours
Publisher: Silesia Games
Developers: Team Recharge
Release Date: September 25, 2024
Xbox Store Links: Xbox
Playstation Store Links: PS4, PS5

One achievement list available on Xbox. Trophy stack available on PlayStation with the PS4 and PS5 versions.

Ricky Recharge is a run-and-gun shooter set in a robot apocalypse, where you play as Ricky, who wakes up alone and must survive as long as possible. Like many classic arcade games, the main objective is to achieve the highest score.

The gameplay is straightforward but comes with a learning curve. While I wasn’t a huge fan of this title, I can see players getting hooked on the “just one more run” feeling as they strive to improve their performance. You navigate levels by running from left to right, switching polarity to match enemy types while zapping, scanning, dodging, and charging blasts at foes. Recharge stations are available on each side of the map, but they deplete over time, requiring you to run back and forth frequently. You can also open a door on the right side of the map to purchase upgrades for Ricky.

One of the more frustrating elements of the game is the need to break open doors every time you advance to a new screen. Often, a hidden robot lies in wait, ready to hit you before you even see it. You start with three lives and can buy an extra life if it appears. Once you lose all three lives, it's game over, and you'll get to see how you rank on the leaderboard. If others in your household join in, you can also keep track of scores on a local leaderboard.

While the achievements are relatively straightforward, focusing on defeating robots and using various abilities and power-ups, some will require skill. One notable achievement involves playing for a total of 10 hours, which extends the completion time. Overall, Ricky Recharge is a game you can easily pick up and play for as long or as little as you like.

Murder Game Over: Deal Killer Cover Art

Murder is Game Over: Deal Killer (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5)

Estimated Completion Time: 2-4 Hours
Publisher: Ratalaika Games
Developers: HitherYon Games
Release Date: September 27, 2024
Xbox Store Links: Xbox
Playstation Store Links: PS4/PS5

One achievement list available on Xbox. Trophy stack on PS4 and PS5 along with cross-buy.

Another exciting addition to the Murder is Game Over series is here! Detective Guy returns, accompanied by his trusty clue-sniffing dog, Cleo, to solve another thrilling murder mystery. In Murder is Game Over: Deal Killer, you find yourself holed up in an alpine hotel, searching for clues and interviewing suspects to unravel the murder of a powerful video game publishing executive.

The achievements in this game are fairly straightforward, but some are missable. Be sure to interact with all eight suspects, each dressed in different costumes, and collect all the doggie bags for your loyal companion, Cleo. Additionally, a couple of achievements involve finding and petting a cat. Keep a close eye on your checklist to ensure you don't miss anything and achieve full completion.

Farmer Survivors Cover Art

Farmer Survivors (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, PS4, PS5)

Estimated Completion Time: 30 minutes
Publisher: AFIL Games
Developers: AFIL Games
Release Date: September 25, 2024
Xbox Store Link: Xbox
Windows Store Link: Windows
Playstation Store Links: PS4/PS5

Another achievement stack on Xbox with the Xbox and Windows version. Trophy stack also available on Playstation with the PS4 and PS5 versions.

Farmer Survivors is a roguelite game set on a farm where you can choose weapons, skills, and stat upgrades. You'll battle through multiple waves of increasingly challenging enemies, with auto-aim always engaged. Approximately every four rounds, you'll face a boss, and defeating each one will trigger a change of season. Your ultimate goal is to conquer every boss from spring, summer, fall, and winter.

The gameplay is quick and, while random, it's relatively easy to navigate. To achieve full completion, you’ll need to play through each season and may need to grind a bit for coins. Coins can be earned by defeating enemies and dashing into chests, bushes, or specific items scattered throughout the maps.

At launch, the game offers 2,000 Gamerscore, with regular title updates planned to eventually expand it to 5,000 Gamerscore.

Ducky Dash Cover Art

Ducky Dash (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)

Estimated Completion Time: 1 hour
Publisher: Old School Vibes
Developers: Old School Vibes
Release Date: September 25, 2024
Xbox Store Link: Xbox
Windows Store Link: Windows
Xbox Store Bundle Link: Xbox/Windows Bundle

The game features achievement stacking on Xbox, allowing you to earn achievements across both Xbox and Windows versions. A bundle is available for those who want to purchase both versions. Currently, there is no PlayStation release.

Ducky Dash is a monochromatic platformer where you control a duck equipped with a dash ability. As with many "quick" platformers, it can be occasionally frustrating. You’ll need to strategically use your dash to overcome various obstacles.

With a bit of patience, you can achieve full completion in approximately one to two hours.

Cat in Rain Cover Art

Cat In Rain (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)

Estimated Completion Time: 30 minutes
Publisher: Phoenix Reborn Games
Developers: Maria
Release Date: September 25, 2024
Xbox Store Links: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S

Achievement stack available on Xbox between the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions. No PlayStation release available at this time.

Cat in Rain offers a very quick completion, though it's not a standout platformer. If you're playing this one, it's likely for the Gamerscore. While the game features a cat, ironically, rain is notably absent.

There are 50 levels, and you earn an achievement for every five levels completed. However, some levels can be frustratingly difficult, with tricky jumps and areas where you might get stuck without a way to reset.

To navigate this, you can choose to play on either Easy or Hardcore mode. For the fastest completion, play on Hardcore: get your cat killed, stand on spikes, and after dying three times, you'll have the option to skip the level. After skipping, switch to Easy mode to complete every five levels and achieve full completion quickly"”hopefully without too much frustration!

Cube Railway Cover Art

Cube Railway (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)

Estimated Completion Time: 30 minutes
Publisher: Colossus Game Studio
Developers: Colossus Game Studio

Xbox Store Links: Xbox
Playstation Store Links: PlayStation

Just the one version available on Xbox. The game hasn’t been released on PlayStation yet, but it’s been announced and can currently be added to your wishlist.

Cube Railway is a puzzle game where you move blocks to complete railways and help trains reach their destinations. You have a limited number of moves to position the missing rail blocks correctly. With 40 levels to tackle, using a guide can make this game a super quick completion.
