At 7pm yesterday, the Montreal based game studio, most famous for the asymmetric multiplayer smash hit Dead by Daylight and the newly released The Casting of Frank Stone (set in the DbD universe), announced the cancellation of one their other future releases called Project T. A post was uploaded to their Twitter/X account with the unfortunate news and a message of thanks to all their fans and supporters.

Originally announced back in April of this year, it was described as a “session based, action-horror shooter” with a co-op PvE focus, and set in Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight universe as well. At the same time as the game’s reveal, the studio also announced an Insiders Program that would allow players to become “active participants in the development of Project T”, according to their website.

Reading the cancellation post sheds some light as to why development of the game has been stopped. After a playtest in July, and a follow up a risk assessment, which included feedback from those who had joined the ‘Project T Insider Program’, the decision was made that Project T would be cancelled. Despite positive feedback from some of the fans involved, the game wasn’t viewed as a viable product to take to market.

Despite this setback, I’m sure Behaviour Interactive have other plans to bring more scary and exciting experiences to horror game fans, and they no doubt intend to keep exploring and expanding the Dead by Daylight universe.
