Black Myth Wukong is the hottest game out right now as it continues to dominate the sales charts in ways only seen by franchises like Call Of Duty and Grand Theft Auto as developer Game Science now eyes a big expansion before working on a sequel.
As Bloomberg has reported Game Science’s investor Hero Games has revealed an updated sales figure, revealing the game has sold 18 million copies since release and brought in 700 million in revenue from its PC and PlayStation release. Analyst Daniel Ahmad in a subsequent tweet has actually stated that 700 million figure is from August 30th and it is actually around 800 million in revenue now. The game reportedly cost about 70 million to make.

The huge sales figure means it is outpacing games such as Elden Ring and the latest Zelda games. While the majority of the games sales have come from China, Ahmad believes that sales will continue to grow as it gains popularity around the globe.
Curiously Game Science is opting for an Elden Ring style dlc expansion rather than moving onto a sequel. Elden Ring’s Shadow Of The Erdtree gave the game new life and added millions in sales to that series and Game Science sees that as an opportunity to grow Wukong even further. As such we likely won’t have to wait as long for more from the studio as it will take less time to develop than a full blown sequel.

Wukong hasn’t just been a commercial success as its critical success has been just as impressive with both fans and critics alike giving it high praise, including ourselves. Our review called it a strong action RPG experience that could turn into something truly special with a little more refinement.
In a gaming industry that it seemingly cutting jobs daily, Black Myth’s success is a much needed breath of fresh air.
