Frostpunk 2 is set to release in about a months time on PC and today we learned that the game will launch with full mod support via a newly introduced tool, FrostKit.
According to a press release the game will launch with FrostKit in beta form available for all players. FrostKit will enable players to "be able to create custom maps, populate them with custom models, and play their new cities"”whether ancient, cosmic, or differentiated in thousands of other ways from the original frosty-apocalypse setting"” in custom scenarios."
Players had been wanting mod support for years with the original game however due to it being built on an in-house engine it had limitations. According to Frostpunk 2 Technical Director, Szymon Jablonskic "Thanks to the switch to Unreal Engine, things are totally different now."
Frostpunk 2 launches on PC September 20th and day 1 on PC Game Pass with console ports to come at a later date.
