Avowed Confirmed To Target 30FPS On Console

Xbox/Microsoft games studios have had a lot of things going on this year. From Hellblade 2 to Diablo and Fallout 76 updates to the new Call Of Duty to everything in between. One of the games a lot of people have, of course, been talking about is Avowed.

When asked about console performance in an interview with the Iron Lords podcast at Gamescom, Matt Hansen, the art director on the game had this to say.

“We are core targeting 30FPS bare minimum. That’s the expectation. ” He continues, “You know, it’s a first-person single player game. You don’t necessarily need that 60 frames, and that allows us to get a lot juicer with effects and lighting and all that other stuff. It’s a trade off we opted to make relatively early, and we’re happy with that.”

It’s important to note that the game is still six months away, and they did make the that they're still figuring out performance so a lot could change in that time. Also, as has been the case with both Starfield and Redfall, it’s also possible that a performance mode for consoles is patched in post release as well.

Avowed was originally scheduled to release this year in 2024 but got pushed back to February 18th, 2025, citing a stacked holiday season for Xbox/Microsoft games studios as the reason. Are you still planning to pick up Avowed? Will you be playing it on Gamepass? Comment below
